Me & My Camera

Many years ago when my daughter was little, we watched Sesame Street and there was a little ditty about a girl and her llama where she'd sing a song and the refrain was, Me and My Llama. So that's where Me & My Camera comes from. Yes, I know it's lame but for some inexplicable reason this little tune rears its ugly head from time to time and  . . . well, let me move on with some photos

After being house-bound for two days babysitting a new furnace installation, yesterday I finally escaped into a gorgeous afternoon wandering around the back roads of Hunterdon County, NJ and Bucks County, PA.

I wish I could put the photos in the order in which I took them because it makes for a much better story but alas Blogger gives me fits and starts whenever I try to do this. Please enjoy.

This might sound strange but I love finding art at the end of driveways or strategically placed in the woods. Mother Nature is such a wonderful setting for art work, don't you think?

It isn't often you see burros and this one was very curious about me as I tried to steady myself at the base of a berm. He stood there just long enough for me to fire off a few pics then he decided he'd waited long enough for me to produce an afternoon snack before wandering off, disappointed I imagine.

The deer around our way have not begun to shed their rust-colored summer coat. I prefer this rust color to their dull grey, winter coat. Deer are so skittish it's a wonder he stood there long enough for me to take his picture.

I love driving down roads I don't know about and if they're dirt and rock all the more better!! This is an old, abandoned railroad Mother Nature has reclaimed slowly over the years. This is a small, low trestle with open beams where weeds are slowly swallowing up man's handiwork.

A close-up shot of the railroad trestle above. Weeds aren't often pretty but the light and shadows on this creeping vine are.

Another dirt road with a tiny woodland stream. I love the play of light and shadows across the stream.

The next four shots are from a nearby garden center I've passed by for years telling myself when I had the time I'd stop in. Yesterday was the day I finally did and it was wonderful.

Oh, how I wish this was my backyard but alas it isn't even close!!!! But then this would never make it in my backyard for all the deer, rabbits, skunks, fox, squirrels . . . you name it, we've got it . . . just about. It does my heart good to be able to go to places like this to dream and enjoy.

A wandering white peacock; something you don't often see at a garden center. I tried to get a little closer but he was having none of it.

Again, another play of light and shadows this time on hosta. Deer love this by the way.

These two were a riot of color and hilarity. Too bad they couldn't play worth a darn. Maybe they were on a break.

This is Sandy Ridge Baptist Church and it is one of my favorite churches to photograph because it's old and I always find interesting light and shadows whenever I'm in the area. Yesterday was no different.

After an enjoyable, peaceful wander about the country with my camera, I decided to hit my favorite ice cream place for a sweet reward. This place makes THE BEST hot fudge sundaes. Sorry I'm not divulging it's location as then it will be deluged with new visitors. Its tiny, quaint, beautifully stencilled restaurant makes some of the best hamburgers and sandwiches I've ever tasted.

While I was sitting at an outside picnic table, tucked nicely in the shade, savoring my hot fudge sundae, I saw this last shot when two older, bike riding gentlemen slid their bikes into a bike rack. It's called Spokes.

See what I mean?

Wishing you all a good, fun-filled, peaceful weekend.NamasteChris

Oh I know all about deer and hosta.
They eat my big beautiful hosta every stinking year.
Last summer they ate the tips before it even had a chance to burst out of the ground.
So this summer I put black netting over it to protect it.
The little buggers just took the netting off and chowed away!!!!
