Mother Nature's Icy Touch

We lost power yesterday just before 4:30 a.m. and it wasn't back until 7:00 p.m. When I finally pulled myself out of bed, not looking forward to the increasing cold creeping into the house, I peeked outside and saw an incredibly beautiful wonderland.

Trying to stay warm wasn't all that difficult as I babysat our sump pump to make sure it didn't overflow and flood the basement. Between helping my brother-in-law hook up a portable generator and my occasional bailing water the old fashioned way using a pot and a large bucket, we managed to keep the cellar dry until the electric was back.

As the temps rose the ice began to fall often taking large tree limbs. We lost a limb off of a much loved maple and this spring we will probably have to replace it. I stood on the deck listening and watching as the ice fell and smacked the ice-hardended surface of the snow. Eventually fog slowly rolled in and I love when fog and snow get together as they make for some great photos!

The Three Trees!

Red, white and fog all over!

BRRRR!!!

Arthritic Ice

ET in tears . . . after an all night binge!

And last, but not least, is the photo I mentioned in Tuesday's post, the snowman the neighbor's built. This has to be THE best snowman I've seen in a long time.

Hmmm, I've got a "red" theme going on in this post. Come on sun!! It's time for some warmer weather!!!

Namaste

Perusing "Rhayne's" blog and your title caught my eye. I just love the photo of the snow scene with the red barn. I am trying to learn photography but am not techy at all and don't know where to start! Thank you for the lovely photos of the snow.

These photos are wonderful! Although, I'll have to admit that the one of "ET's eyes" looks a little too much like eyes to me and kind of freaks me out. I really like the others a whole lot. Sorry to hear about that maple limb. I love ice on things like this too, but is sure does do a number on trees.
