Yesterday, I hiked around Hawk Mountain before the sun crested the treetops. It was humid and damp but I loved how the sunlight illuminated the fog into shafts. The carpet of ferns was slowly dying and the chipmunks were frantically getting ready for winter. Or were they upset by my presence? Who knows what goes on in the minds of chipmunks?

Chris, the few times that I've visited the area where you live, I was quite taken by the mists. I guess that's a result of the humidity. Beautiful photography.
