Thanksgiving Thought for the Day

At the moment, I'm in the midst of Thanksgiving Day preparations. The more I do today the less I will have to do on the big day tomorrow. Work smarter not harder. So all the pies, breads, sweet potato casserole and cranberry sauce will be done today. But I had to stop and write this post because I think it's something that goes well with Thanksgiving Day.

There was a pleasant surprise waiting for me at the post office this morning, a beautiful card from Sharon over at Happenings on Chaos Ranch. She sent me a thank you card for a book I'd recently sent her. It's a very simple card; actually it's a quotablecard. I love them because they have poignant, thought-provoking quotes that speak volumes.

This quote is by Eleanor Roosevelt, one of my favorite people, who said: do one thing every day that scares you. As I held the card in my hand, it made me realize we all need to include more scary things in our lives. We need to step outside our comfort zone. Our daily routine can often find us in a rut and getting out of a rut can be difficult. Believe me this isn't something I find easy to do but stepping outside our comfort zone helps us expand our horizons and in the end, hopefully, give us a much more fulfilling life. So along with being thankful and grateful this Thanksgiving, try to do one thing every day that scares you.

The cranberry sauce and pumpkin breads are done and now I'm off to bake an apple pie and a pumpkin pie. But before I go, I'd like to wish those who celebrate this holiday a very Happy Thanksgiving.

I don't know about you but I can taste that pumpkin pie with whipped cream already!!

Namaste
Chris

I think it's always good to push ourselves out of our comfort zone. I've always liked to do that and have almost had a fear of getting into a rut but I've noticed that as I get older, that rut is looking more and more appealing! lol. That comfort zone will be different for each of us...what one finds easy to stretch into, another might find uncomfortable. A good topic to contemplate for sure.

Thank you for your lovely card of condolence Chris. I'm very grateful for your kindness and thoughtfulness and that we have connected in the happy yet crazy way of the internet. Wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving holiday.
