Slow Down

A soft, gentle rain pitter patters outside my window as I write this post. As I get older I find I enjoy every weather day. Well, almost every weather day. I'm also finding, as I get older, I don't tolerate heat and humidity but that's another story.

Driving thunderstorms fascinate me and ironically, when I was younger, thunder and lightning often scared me into a closet. Now, when a storm approaches I sit on the deck and wait for the wind to arrive. I've never been able to catch it's exact time of arrival. One minute it's dead calm and then, in less than the blink of an eye, the wind whirls in out of nowhere! Excitement and anticipation build when lightning forks off in the distance.

There was a time I didn't liked rain because getting wet when dressed has never appealed to me. Now, I sometimes stand on the deck and let the rain have its way, soaking my clothes and me to the skin.

There's something soothing about a rainy day. I also think and if it doesn't it should, make us slow down. We're always in a hurry these days. To do what? To go where? Wherever we're going or whatever we're doing, it will be there. If not today, then tomorrow or the day after.

We only have the present moment we're in. Don't waste it. Enjoy every moment, be present as much as possible.

Start today.

Namaste
Chris

Yes, indeed! I wish it was raining here right now. I've been listening to rain and storms on my sound machine each night for weeks.
