Happy New Year!

Yesterday, I cyber-hopped over to Happenings on Chaos Ranch where Sharon did a post on her word for the New Year. While was it an interesting and thought-provoking post, it gave me ideas for my word for the New Year. Actually, I came up with two words: Patience and Possibilities.

Patience is a trait I sorely lack and the older I get, I think it's an age thing, the more patient I am becoming in some situations, but not all. Being more mindful of my impatience, the easier it becomes for me to be patient.

One of my goals, notice I didn’t say resolutions because like many of us “resolutions” don’t last and studies show it’s often a matter of weeks after resolutions are made they fall by the wayside. If I call it a goal it will be more important for me to succeed. So this year I am going to try to be more patient with myself, my family, with strangers, with situations where I have to wait and when I’m driving, which is where I’m most apt to lose my patience.

My other word for the New Year is “Possibilities”. Since losing my job last July, I realize there are many opportunities for my writing and photography and I need to take advantage of them NOW!

Before I go though I’d like to share these two photos taken several years ago epitomizing what New Year’s is all about for many people especially those living in Philadelphia, the annual Mummer’s Day Parade. Several weeks after they strut their stuff during the Mummer's Parade, they highlighted Lambertville, New Jersey's Winter Carnival and it was kind of exciting to be this close to the Mummer's.

I'd like to wish all of you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. While this New Year, like every New Year, gives us the same blank slate to create our lives anew, let’s make 2011 the best year we can.

Namaste
Chris

Happy New Year to you as well, Chris! I've been thinking that I haven't hung out at your blog as much as I ought lately. Oh my goodness your header is stunning!

We'll have to make it a priority to get together sooner rather than later. It looks like Harrisburg is somewhat in the middle. :o) I made a point of checking the other day.

Best wishes to you and yours!
